Need to reduce your stress? Do you ever feel like you are all jumbled up and are unsure of what you want or feel? Wish you knew what will make you happy? How about finding a solution for that big argument you had with your friend or solving that problem you have been racking your brain about how to fix?
You may not need to look much further than a pen and paper – Or for those of you that love technology, your laptop. Journaling is a great inexpensive form of therapy that will not only help you find what you need, but is also a great way to see where you have been and how far you have come.
Journaling sometimes seems to be a process people think they don’t have time for, but really you’re probably just putting too much pressure on yourself. You don’t need to write a novel and it doesn’t even need to be written in complete thoughts. For those of you who are more artistic, start with doodles. If you need a starting point, pick a word -- any word -- and write a few sentences about that word. Add pictures or poems you love. Cut out that newspaper article that got you fired up and write about it. Pick a song, listen to it and write how it makes you feel. Make your journal yours. It is yours and yours alone.
The most important point of journaling is remembering there are no rules. Forget punctuation, spelling, and the need to censor what you write. Write what comes to your mind and know that your journal will never judge you.
So what are you waiting for? Start journaling and find answers you didn’t even know you already had within in you. Happy journaling
